StomaphyX and Transoral ROSE Surgery
StomaphyX and Transoral ROSE surgery are two similar non invasive forms of bariatric surgery which don’t involve any cuts or incisions. They are usually used by people who have already had some form of Gastric Band Surgery in the past. Having a second form of bariatric procedure is known as Gastric Bypass Revision.
What are the benefits of StomaphyX and Transoral ROSEsurgery?
Recent statistics quote that following Gastric Bypass Surgery almost a quarter of patients will begin to put weight back on after a 5 year period. Gastric Bypass Surgery essentially reduces the size of your stomach but its effects can be reversed overtime due to bad eating habits creeping back in or the surgery not being as effective as possible.
StomaphyX and Transoral ROSE surgery are generally treated as secondary procedures for patients that have already had a form of Gastric Band Surgery. Both procedures involve placing devices through the mouth hence they are termed as non invasive or incision free forms of bariatric surgery. The advantages of non invasive forms of weight loss procedures are that they are less likely to lead to the normal surgical complications such as infections and there is no scarring or cuts to the body.
Both StomaphyX and Transoral ROSE procedures are relatively quick and involve surgery times of around 1 hour performed under general anaesthetic.
What do StomaphyX and Transoral ROSE surgery procedures involve?
Both Transoral ROSE and StomaphyX surgery share some similarities but they are different procedures and Transoral ROSE is favoured by most surgeons.
Both procedures involve inserting an endoscope through the mouth. An endoscope is a long and thin flexible tube that has a camera and light at the end of the tube. For StomaphyX, the surgeon suctions out sections of stomach tissue and then creates folds which are fastened to reduce the size of the stomach.
The non invasive Transoral ROSE procedure involves the use of a different endoscope that has several instruments fitted to it. The next stage of Transoral ROSE involves the surgeon sewing up the connection between the small intestine and stomach pouch. Sutures and anchors are then placed in the stomach which results in the patient’s stomach filling up more quickly after eating food. Transoral ROSE is considered more effective because the sutures create a stronger hold than that used in StomaphyX and it narrows the stoma resulting in the stomach emptying food in a slower and more controlled manner.
Transoral ROSE and StomaphyX surgery are both generally safe procedures but choosing to have any procedure is a serious and personal decision. If you decide that this is right for you then further information on StomaphyX or Transoral ROSE surgery, your suitability and the possible side effects will be provided by a qualified practitioner during the consultation stage pre surgery.
What are the costs of StomaphyX or Transoral ROSE surgery?
Costs for both procedures vary depending on the clinic you choose and various other factors. Typically StomaphyX and Transoral ROSE surgery costs start in the £6,000 range.
How can I afford StomaphyX or Transoral ROSE surgery?
Clinics understand the importance of providing flexible payment options to their customers. Most offer a monthly repayment plan and finance options which start at 0% APR. Loans are typically repaid over a 12 to 48 month period.
